***Perfect***

Fall Boots

1) A reasonable heel. Sorry ladies, I love sky high stilettos as much as the next girl but it only takes one time of biffing it in public to change your mind. A thicker reasonable height heel is a must for the fall and winter seasons.

2) Easy to clean fabric. You don't want to have to worry about cleaning your suede boots everytime you go outside and/or drop a cupcake on them.

Funny Story....
Back in our building before the big move Trista and I were leaving for the day and Trista was carrying a cupcake home to her then boyfriend Phil that was leftover from someones birthday or something. Anywho, she's wearing these really cute brown suede pumps - or were they Mary Janes?(oh, they were pumps, and REALLY cute) and we're walking and talking like we're on the West Wing and PLOP there goes the cupcake upside down on the toe of her shoe. We looked at each other and started laughing so hard. No frosting got on the floor or anywhere else. That was the end of her brown suede heels. R.I.P.

3) Versatility. Not too tall, not too short. You want to get the most bang for your buck when buying boots because they're spendy. if you spend your whole boots budget on a mid-calf you're not going to be happy when it comes to tights and skirts season (and no, we're not fans of mid-calf boots with anything other than pants). We say, ankle booties or knee length to get the most bang for your buck.

4) Color. The age old question. Black or brown. We're firm believers that you're either a brown girl or a black girl. Mary Ann is a brown girl, I'm a black girl. We each instinctively gravitate towards a specific neutral. (We both love gray though in case you're wondering. )

Mommy Monday: Second Babies

We're both new moms (8 and 9 month olds) and have decided to have our respective children close in age. The topic of second babies came up before either one of us had even given birth but now it's go time for Mary Ann (yay!!)and quarter to go time for me.

I wonder if getting pregnant the second time will be easier/faster? The first time around I was so paranoid that I was barren or would have to have fertility treatments and thankfully we got pregnant on our third try. Now that we have our little Miss I am at times so ready for a second and other times it's unimaginable to me to have two.

Here are my questions - have any of you changed your mind on how many kids you want after having your first? Or how close in age?

Deuces - Ginger.

Breastfeeding

When I first had my daughter this past January I was dead set on breastfeeding, it's natural, it's good for her, it's more economical than buying formula and while I still think all of those things are true- Breastfeeding SUCKS.

Here are the things that books and the internet don't tell you.

1) Breastfeeding is hard to figure out. Look, I'm no dummy but it was hard to figure out the positions (football hold or cradle hold??) that worked for me and my little one. Even getting the nipple in her tiny mouth felt almost impossible and the nurses try to help but this is one area when their "I've seen it all" attitude didn't comfort me. I wanted someone to acknowledge that it is hard and super frustrating.

2) Latching on is hard for some babies. My little one had trouble latching on to my left breast, my right (big boob) was no problem at all. The lactation consultant just said to keep at it but after not being able to latch on at all I started using a Medela nipple shield. And just like that she latched on. We used that for a couple of months and then she didn't need it anymore. Probably because my National Geographic nipples were such a giant target.

3) It takes FOREVER. First, my baby fell asleep after not eating enough so it was a constant challenge to wake her back up so she could eat enough to sleep for longer than 2 seconds. Then it comes to pumping, I felt like years of my life were spent pumping.  I pumped 3 times a day at work, 3 times at home and then breast fed in the middle of the night. It started to feel like that was all I did.

4) Say Goodbye to cute nipples. Little round pink? No way, pop can sized brown is more like it. I'm still hoping mine go back to pre-baby cuteness.

So I'm almost done breastfeeding, we still nurse at night and I like the ease and comfort of that but I do not miss pumping for one second. I felt like throwing myself a party. She's 9 months next week and I feel so proud that I did it and I know I will next time but this bitch is going to be complaining the entire time.

Ta-Da

Here it is, our inaugural post. This has been a long time coming, or more specifically a couple of weeks while we thought of a name that wasn't barf inducing or so boring that we fell asleep. We landed on Just Between Work Friends because, well, we're work friends and we couldn't think of anything else that wasn't taken. Every good blog name in the world is taken - seriously. Ghost Boner is taken. So this is it folks, get used to it.

We started this blog to let off some steam, we're both new moms (8 and 9 month olds) and felt like there is so much of yourself given to everything and everyone else that it would be nice to have just one little thing that is strictly ours.

We look forward to you writing amusing tidbits, arguments, and hopefully entertaining each of you for a few minutes a day (fingers crossed).

Deuces,

Ginger and Mary Ann
